The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office accepts applications for Deputy Sheriffs, Detention Officers and Support Staff. To find out what positions are currently open please view postings here, or call us at (386) 752-9212 between the hours of 8am and 5pm, Monday through Friday.

The forms above may also be printed out and manually completed and submitted.

The Sheriff’s letter at the begining of the application has a checklist of items that must be included with your application. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Please ensure to include a copy of your birth certificate, high school diploma (or equivalent), Social Security card, driver’s license, and military discharge forms (if applicable).

If you are applying for a law enforcement or corrections position, please include a copy of your certificate and state exam scores.

Why Work at the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office?
The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office offers a wide variety of career opportunities for individuals with an interest in law enforcement. Job positions fall under either “sworn” or “staff” classifications. Sworn positions require current Florida Law Enforcement or Corrections certification and include entry positions such as Deputy Sheriff and Correction Officer.

Staff positions do not require law enforcement certification and include entry positions such as Clerical and Secretarial as well as several other specialized categories.

The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office has an active recruiting program which targets individuals, organizations, etc. in an effort to seek qualified candidates and help them find an appropriate match for available positions.

There are several options to help find current job openings which may be suited for you. We place announcements in the local newspapers to notify the public about current job openings.

Applications for all positions are available at the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office Human Resources Office, Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. The Human Resources Office is located in our Administration building at 4917 US Hwy 90 East. You may also download the law enforcement or support staff applications at the top of this page.
