Man Arrested on Drug Charges

On Monday, June 3, 2013, a Ft. White man was arrested on narcotics charges after deputies discovered a methamphetamine laboratory in his home.

At approximately 1:00pm, Deputies were serving an arrest warrant on Jonathan Keen at 168 SW Freedom Ct., Ft. White, FL. During the service of the arrest warrant, deputies discovered materials and chemicals consistent with the clandestine manufacture of methamphetamine.

When the deputies initially arrived at the residence, they immediately smelled a strong and distinctive chemical odor. The odors were consistent with methamphetamine manufacturing.  Additional items and chemicals used to manufacture methamphetamine were found in the home, around the outside of the home, and inside a shed located on the property.

Deputies with the Multi Jurisdictional Task Force arrived on the scene to assist the patrol deputies. MJTF deputies contained the dangerous and noxious chemicals and collected evidence after a search warrant was obtained.  The Columbia County Fire Department assisted the Sheriff’s Office while the chemical danger was removed. The suspect, Keen, was transported to the Columbia County Detention Facility without incident and booked on multiple charges.

The Multi-Jurisdictional Task Force is comprised of law enforcement officers from the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
